The Informal Report

This short assignment has two parts:

First, write an "informal report" based on one of the following exercises from the assigned reading: exercise 1a (pages 410-411); 1b (page 411); 2 (page 411); or 3 (page 412). You will decide on which exercise you will be completing during class on March 24.

Second, write a memo to me explaining some of the choices that you made in completing this assignment

Here are some things to think about:

• This is a "transition" assignment to get us to start thinking about the more "formal report/presentation" assignment, which is what we will be working on for most of the month of April. Because of this, the "turn around" on this assignment is unusually quick. We will have a peer review discussion about this project on March 29, and it will be due to me on March 31.
• Keep in mind that this is supposed to be a short exercise-- a page to a page and a half long.
• Each of the exercise options requires you to "create" some information to fill in the details of the report-- the actual state where the accidents happen, the date and location of the fire, the local schools producing excellent electronic technicians, etc. A little creativity is a good thing, but make sure you stay with the spirit of the assignment.
